The Board of Directors have a prime responsibility for policy formulation and management of APIA. In accordance to the APIA Constitution all Directors on the Board are elected for a two year term, the position of President is for a two year term however the positions of Vice President and Treasurer are held for one year.

The APIA secretariat is located in Canberra in order to provide a national focus for the members.
