Convention 2008
“ Australia’s Sustainable Future – In The Pipeline!”
Exhibition
This year's Exhibition has maximised the floor space and allows a good flow of delegates through the area and is located close to the business sessions. As with previous years the Exhibition will host the morning and afternoon tea breaks, lunches as well as the Sunday Exhibition Opening cocktail party. Also within the exhibition space is a cafe, internet area and stage.
Perth, WA
Western Australia is a state of vast beauty. From its white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters to its dusty deserts and well established forests, Western Australia prides itself as a key destination. The capital city of Perth does not disappoint, being located alongside the peaceful waters of the Swan River and only twenty kilometres inland of the Indian Ocean on the west coast of Australia.
Perth was primarily constructed using convict labour which is still recognisable in some of Perth's remaining historic buildings. Perth has grown and now has a population of more than 1.3 million residents; the relaxed culture and clean air remains but visitors can also enjoy modern infrastructure, recreational and cultural facilities.
Perth city highlights include: Perth Zoo, The Old Mill, The Port City of Fremantle, The Swan Valley Region, Rottnest Island, Kings Park and The Botanic Gardens. Some of the more popular shopping areas are Hay St Mall, Murray St Mall, Raine Square, Forest Chase, Barrack St and Kings Street.
Perth enjoys a Mediterranean climate; temperatures in October range from a minimum of 11°C to a maximum of 22°C. As Australia's sunniest capital city, Perth enjoys an average of eight hours sunshine a day.
Generations of immigrants as well as new residents from around the world have stamped their mark on Perth, adding to its rich diversity in food, customs and religious and cultural experiences. There are facilities and events that cover most religious beliefs, and the wide range of restaurants and food available mean that tourists of all nationalities feel right at home in Perth.
The venue for the 2008 APIA Convention is the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre which is in the heart of the city, making it conveniently located to several quality hotels.
